Now the best part of this article is that I’m not trying to sell you anything–no fancy lotions or potions. Following this advice won’t cost you anything extra, in fact it may save you money!
Every time I’ve looked into the mirror lately I’m amazed at what I see. My skin has been noticeably smoother and I’m certainly not used to liking what I see in my reflection. I’ve been blessed with little bones and skinny genes, but nice skin . . . not so much. I never had nice skin even when I was young and now that I’m in my mid forties, well, that situation is only getting worse. My strategy has always been to hide behind long bangs and sunglasses.
Three weeks ago I started a new diet. I guess you can say it’s along the lines of a detox diet. I’ve been reading a book called Spent by Dr Frank Lipman and have been following his diet. This is mostly for people with exhausted adrenal glands. This condition causes all kinds of issues and following a strict diet can reset your body and help in many ways. I figured it was worth a shot to try to reverse the effects of many years of stress.
So for the past 3 weeks I’ve completely eliminated all sugar and processed foods, For me the sugar part is difficult, but I’m been avoiding processed foods for a long time. Every week more and more forbidden foods get added. This week I’m supposed to also eliminate gluten and greatly reduce caffeine and alcohol. Next week I can say goodbye to dairy. Oh, that will be hard, but I’m going to do it. And do you know why?
Not for the reasons that I started this diet – to improve my overall health and well being, but to improve the look of my skin. It’s amazing how vanity wins out over health sometimes. My skin looks like I’ve aged backwards by a few years. I can’t see any fine lines around my eyes anymore. There have been mornings when I accidentally forgot to apply all my make-up. That has never happened before, but I got tricked by the look of my new and improved skin.
I would love to show you photos of before and after because I know everybody loves that, but there is no way I would have ever photographed myself with no make up on before. I’m going to go way out on a limb now, suck it up and show you my 46 year old skin sans make-up.
